Uno Chicago Style needs to get a grip

You can read the review, but don’t bother. Suffice it to say that this is a place you don’t want to patronize.

The Cosmopolitan - Cape Coral : One Grill Fits All

Here’s another restaurant I like. So why am I going to poop all over it? The Cosmopolitan Grill is seemingly misnamed. It should be the Cosmopolitan Griddle. You see, in Europe they call a huge solid flat heated surface a Grill. Here in America we call that a griddle. You know, the thing Steak & Shake uses to fry burgers and Dennys uses to create the stuff that Denny’s serves. Here in America we see a grill as something with an open grate with fire or flame below. Stuff is put on the grill and cooked on one side and then the other. The juices drip away or are sometimes basted on the item being grilled.

So, there is a difference. Read the rest of this entry »

Rumrunners - Cape Coral : OK, now that’s enough already….

If you work at Rumrunners, own Rumrunners or just know someone that runs the place…. give them this message. CHANGE THE FREAKING MENU ALREADY. I like Rumrunners. I like the service. I like the ambiance. I like the food. the wine prices are a bit high, but we still go there. Read the rest of this entry »

The Sandy Hook - Matalacha : Lose the chubby chick on the TV spots

Restaurants are sometimes passed from family member to family member. Mom and dad to the kid. I’m not sure of what happened at the Sandy Hook, but it seemed to me the children are minding the shop. Maybe not, I don’t know them. I just noticed that same chick from the lame TV commercials running the place. Don’t even get me started on those TV Spots. Back in the stone age, ad wizard Bill Mahoney, rest his soul, made some TV spots for the Sandy Hook and they thought the format was so good they would keep it for 25 years. Listen folks, TV spots are not wine, the ideas do not age well. WRITE A NEW SPOT, don’t just keep the same lame idea. Read the rest of this entry »

Outback Restaurant - Cape Coral : It’s DOG heaven! (I Mean REAL DOGS)

So I go for dinner at the outback. My wife orders the twin lobster tails, my mom orders the same and I order the big filet mignon. We’re eating our salad at our table on the veranda and some guy walks ins WITH HIS DOG. Now I would expect the waitress to shoo him away, but she takes his order. When the waitress comes back to my table I inform her that allowing dogs in the serving area of a restaurant in Florida is against the health code.

Furthermore, I tell he she can serve dog-man and cancel my order, or she can send dog-man walking. She gets the manager, who tells dog-man that we complained and shoos him off. Read the rest of this entry »

The Cape Cafe - why ask why?

You know, the Cape Cafe has been around for years. It’s fairly clean and the food is not bad. Not great, but not bad either. It’s sort of like a salad with just iceberg lettuce and a couple of cherry tomatoes… not bad, but just not great. Read the rest of this entry »

Blue Pointe Oyster House - good, but bring your $$$$

A recent visit has found this restaurant unacceptable and I no longer recommend it. The review below was accurate at that visit, but now the food quality has dropped to very poor.

Chops - Bonita Springs: Why Bother?

My friends and I dined at Chops at the corner of Coconut Road and U.S. 41 in Bonita Springs. Dinner for 4 was $250, which would be OK if I based the place solely on atmosphere. It looks real nice. Nice decor and pretty waitresses and handsome waiters. That’s always a good start, who wants to see ugly right before you eat? So, up till that point, it was fine. Read the rest of this entry »
